The story

Late July light gathers on the orange wall above the stairs. Below, blue shade holds the rough texture of each tread, making the ascent feel cool and enclosed. The arch comes into view gradually, its curve crossing the straight lines of the passage. High in a small recess, two white birds remain fixed in flight.
