Tall trunks rise from a leaf-covered slope into a fine network of mostly bare branches against a saturated blue sky. A sunburst at the edge of a central trunk anchors the upward-looking composition, while scattered orange foliage brings warmth to the forest's spare November structure.

The story

Early November opens the canopy, leaving broad stretches of blue between the branches. Sunlight slips past a trunk in a sharp white star, catching the remaining leaves in gold and orange. Below, fallen foliage gathers around the roots and covers the slope with rust-colored texture. The eye follows the trees upward, away from the crowded ground into the quiet intricacy of their crowns.
