The story

September light settles across the red stone, reaching the exposed ledges and leaving the deeper recesses dark. Beneath the arches, small figures make their way among fallen blocks. The eye follows them upward, then passes through the rock into a thin veil of cloud. Green shrubs crowd the foreground, their fine foliage contrasting with the immense, weathered walls. For a moment, the sky seems held within the stone.
