Orderly rows of rounded shrubs follow the rolling terrain, extending from the textured foreground toward a white house on the upper left ridge. Angled sunlight gilds the foliage and draws long shadows between the plantings, while autumn woodland and a small pond mark the distance. The sweeping repetition gives this cultivated landscape a measured, expansive calm.

The story

Early November lays gold along the edges of the green shrubs. Between the rows, pale cut stems catch the light, and shadows stretch downhill. The white house holds its place above the planting as each rounded form becomes smaller with distance. Beyond this careful order, woodland gathers in orange, yellow, and red around a glimpse of water.
