Where October Ascends

About this piece
Stone steps rise between a moss-covered retaining wall and a broad, lichen-marked boulder, narrowing toward a stone building among trees. Cool daylight reveals the rough masonry and exposed roots, while green moss and scattered red leaves bring vivid color to the ascending composition. The empty passage holds a quiet, sheltered mood.
The story
On the last day of October, fallen leaves gather along the edges of the steps. Moss spreads over the slope beneath a great tree, softening the meeting of roots and stone. Above, bare branches draw fine lines across the pale blue sky, while shrubs retain pockets of green and gold. The stairway turns and narrows, letting the way ahead emerge a little at a time.
