About this piece
A weathered wooden mill and red waterwheel stand above a series of low cascades, surrounded by autumn woodland. Soft daylight reveals orange foliage, evergreen branches, and broad gray rock ledges, while the flowing stream draws the eye from the foreground toward the building. The pale, silken water lends movement to an otherwise settled landscape.
The story
On the last day of October, orange leaves still brighten the hillside between stretches of bare branches. Water slips over the rock shelves, gathering into white curtains beneath the wooden mill. Its red wheel sits close to the stream, a small circle among the upright trunks and angular stone. Green holds along the banks as autumn thins the canopy, and the water carries its steady sound through the clearing.
