Silken water descends between moss-covered boulders before dividing around planted pockets of stone. Mike Gedj balances the stream’s softened motion with the crisp textures of rock, fallen leaves, and arching foliage, while patches of sunlight illuminate the wooded enclosure.
The story
I framed the waterfall above the long green leaves, letting the stream carry my eye back through the stones. What held me was the contrast: water slipping past every edge, roots keeping their place in the narrow crevices. Sunlight touched the upper rocks while the shallows remained green with reflected foliage. I wanted to keep both sensations in the photograph—the movement that never stops and the small, rooted things it passes.
