A woodland cascade threads through boulders before widening into a shallow, translucent stream. Softened water contrasts with the textured stone and sharply defined foliage, while patches of sunlight illuminate the green and amber tones of the streambed.
The story
I framed the small cascade beyond the stones, letting the stream lead my eye back into the trees. All around it, leaves and grasses crowded the banks, yet the water kept an open passage through the green. I wanted to hold that contrast: the weight of the boulders and the fluid brightness slipping around them. In the foreground, submerged stones remained visible beneath the softened surface, giving the movement a quiet depth.
