About this piece

A bright meadow stretches toward a dense line of conifers beneath towering, sharply fractured cliffs. Strong sunlight illuminates the yellow-green grasses and pale rock faces, while deep shadows articulate the mountain’s folds. Small purple thistles in the foreground anchor the expansive composition in an intimate detail.

The story

Late June fills the meadow with light, catching the fine edges of grass and the purple tips of thistles. Beyond this low tangle, tree trunks rise in close ranks toward the cliffs. Sunlight reaches the exposed stone while narrow clefts retain their blue shadows. The eye travels from a single flower to the high ridge, then rests in the uninterrupted sky.
