A stand of slender pines rises above a still pond, its reflection extending into pale blue water. Foreground reeds and ochre surface vegetation interrupt the mirrored scene, balancing the distant woodland with the intricate textures of the shallow margin.
The story
I found my frame at the water’s edge, where the reeds broke the clean reflection of the pines. Across the pond, the trunks stood close together, each carrying a little green into the pale sky. I let the tangled foreground remain: the thin stems, the ochre patches, the small openings of blue. They held what interested me most about this place, the way an orderly reflection could share the water with so much uneven detail.
