Silken streams descend through a rocky garden into a pond whose surface carries green and amber reflections. The softened movement of water contrasts with the textured stone and dense foliage, while a gray heron stands beside the upper cascade.
The story
I framed the pond low in the photograph, leaving room for the falling water to stretch into its reflection. Above it, the garden gathered in layers: rough stone, ferns, small leaves, and the dark recesses beneath the branches. My eye kept returning to the gray heron at the left, a quiet vertical among the rocks. I wanted the photograph to hold that contrast—the water continually passing through, the garden seeming to stay.
