A broad curtain of water spills over a low weir into a river broken by angular boulders. Softened currents contrast with the textures of stone and woodland, where evergreen foliage mingles with sparse yellow and red autumn leaves.
The story
I framed the river low, letting the nearest currents fill the foreground while the straight edge of the weir held the distance. Water divided around the boulders and gathered again, carrying the woodland’s muted colors into streaks of white and gold. Beyond it, a stone wall followed the bank beneath the thinning trees. What drew me was that contrast: the measured line across the river, and the restless shapes the water made below.
