Where Pines Return
MG-1885
Category: Earthbound Light

About this piece
Tall pines rise above a dense fringe of palmettos and shrubs, their trunks repeated in the water below. Bright light brings out reddish bark and vivid greens, while the nearly level shoreline anchors a composition of vertical rhythms and gently softened reflections.
The story
July light fills the spaces between the pines, reaching the fan-shaped leaves along the bank. The water holds another woodland, its trunks descending into pale blue instead of rising through it. Small ripples loosen the reflected branches without breaking their continuity. Along this narrow edge of earth, the forest seems to extend equally into air and water.
