An Intimate Geometry

About this piece
Two vividly patterned grasshoppers rest one atop the other amid soil, twigs, and emerging greenery. Light reveals yellow and orange bodies, black markings, and finely veined wings, while raised hind legs draw angular lines across the softly blurred background. The close, ground-level composition gives this small encounter a sculptural presence.
The story
On this July day, a small patch of earth holds a bright arrangement of jointed legs and folded wings. One grasshopper rests above the other, their patterned bodies set against green and brown softness. A dry twig crosses the foreground, and fresh shoots rise between fragments of soil. Close to the ground, the scene gathers its quiet intensity from details easily passed by.
