About this piece
An alligator fills the frame, its open jaws revealing a pale mouth bordered by irregular, conical teeth. Warm light picks out the textured scales and amber-rimmed eye, while grass and blurred wooden boards surround the low, close composition. The animal’s resting posture contrasts with the formidable architecture of its jaws.
The story
July light settles across the grass and catches on the alligator’s armored skin. Its mouth stands open, a pale chamber within the dark mass of its body. Above the teeth, one eye holds a narrow gleam. The surrounding green softens the encounter without diminishing its force.
