Overlapping blue-green agave leaves fill the frame, with yellow-lit spines along their edges.

Where Light Finds Thorns

About this piece

A close view of agave foliage reveals blue-green blades, serrated margins, and pale impressions traced across the leaf surfaces. Light catches the small spines in yellow-green accents, while overlapping diagonals and softened foreground leaves create a sculptural depth. The tightly enclosed composition balances quiet shadow with sharp detail.

The story

On this May day, light enters the narrow spaces between the leaves. Each small spine holds a bright point above the cool blue-green surfaces. Pale markings repeat along the blades, echoes of edges once pressed close together. Beyond the nearest leaf, the plant folds into shadow, keeping its center partly concealed.
