A Gathering of Gold

About this piece

Golden-yellow cherries, many blushed with red, fill the frame in a tightly cropped study of color and rounded form. Bright reflections illuminate their glossy skins, while slender stems draw angular lines across the overlapping fruit. Selective focus softens the surrounding layers, lending depth to this abundant still life.

The story

Late June finds its colors gathered here: gold, amber, and small flares of red. Light rests on the cherries’ curved skins, suggesting the cool, smooth feel of fruit in the hand. A slender stem crosses the heap, interrupting its rounded rhythm. Beyond the frame, the gathering seems to continue, with no visible edge to its abundance.
