About this piece

Seen from below, broad banana leaves surround an irregular opening of blue sky. Sunlight illuminates yellowing tissue, fine parallel veins, and curled, torn edges, while the deep green leaf at right anchors the composition in shadow. The close framing gives weathered foliage a sculptural, quietly luminous presence.

The story

On this May day, the sky appears between leaves in a bright, uneven opening. Light passes through the thinner yellow sections, revealing the delicate lines that run along their surfaces. Torn strips curl back toward the canopy, their edges catching a narrow gleam. Beside them, a broad green leaf holds its shadow, and the blue beyond remains clear.
