Seen from below, a palm trunk rises diagonally from the lower left toward a crown of overlapping fronds. Strong sunlight warms the textured bark and turns sections of foliage yellow-green, while deep shadows and narrow openings of blue sky give the radiating composition depth.
The story
On this February day, the sky appears in narrow pieces between the leaves. The eye follows the rough trunk upward until its solid weight opens into a canopy of slender lines. Sunlight gathers along the stems, gold against the shaded green. Beneath the crown, the world feels briefly reduced to bark, leaf, and brightness.
