About this piece
Crimson flowers and rounded orange buds emerge along woody stems beside a broad, mottled tree trunk. Filtered sunlight illuminates their intricate cream, yellow, and pink centers against a softly blurred green canopy, while crossing branches lend the composition a tangled, sculptural rhythm.
The story
In the light of early May, the canopy holds a luminous green around the darker trunk. Rounded buds gather along slender stems, their orange surfaces edged with red. Nearby, open flowers reveal pale curved centers and fine pink filaments. The eye follows a branch through shade until another crimson bloom catches the light.
