About this piece
Seen from below, a broad banana leaf stretches across the frame, its curved central rib anchoring a dense pattern of fine veins. Backlighting turns the green tissue luminous yellow, while overlapping folds cast deep shadows and torn edges open onto blue sky.
The story
On this May day, sunlight passes through the leaf and brings its fine ribs into view. Along the margins, narrow strips curl away from the broad blade, revealing slivers of blue. The browned edges hold a delicate, irregular line against the sky. Beneath this small canopy, brightness and shade share the same thin surface.
