A pale lighthouse rises left of center above sandy dunes, coastal grasses, and a low band of palms. Strong sunlight defines the tower’s textured surface and dark lantern, while the dune’s diagonal slope balances its upright form. Rendered in black and white, the scene holds fine botanical detail beneath an expansive, nearly empty sky.

The story

In the May light, sand and masonry shine against the darker palms. Fine grass stems bend across the dune, their shadows drawing thin lines over its surface. Above them, the lighthouse holds its straight course into the open sky. A narrow glimpse of sea at the far left keeps the shore’s wider expanse just beyond the frame.
