Gold Beneath the Arch

About this piece

A rounded orange vessel holding golden dried grasses rests on the deep sill of an arched, curtained window. Cool light gives the pale stucco and window frame a blue cast, setting off the vessel’s warm color and white painted band. The oblique composition brings rough stone paving into the foreground, balancing the arch’s smooth curve with irregular texture.

The story

July light settles over the wall, turning its pale surface a cool blue. Within the arch, golden strands spill from the pot and trail across the sill. Behind them, curtains soften the glass and keep the interior out of view. Below, uneven stones carry the same ochre notes as the vessel, quieter and worn into the ground.
