A white lighthouse stands beyond a broken timber structure, its slender vertical form framed by massive beams above and splintered boards at right. Bright daylight reveals gray grain, ochre patches, and rust streaks, setting the foreground’s fractured textures against a luminous blue-and-white sky. The low viewpoint gives this study of weathered surfaces a quiet monumentality.
The story
Late June light settles into the grooves of the timber, bringing warmth to its gray surface. Through the ragged opening, the lighthouse rises with its glass lantern held against the clouds. Dry grasses and low green plants gather along the ground beneath these two very different silhouettes. The eye follows each broken board toward the tower, then rests in the open sky between them.
