About this piece

Breaking surf fills the frame with turquoise water and white spray, rising behind a cluster of dark, wet rocks. Bright light catches individual droplets and the rocks’ ochre patches, while the largest outcrop anchors the composition at right. The close framing holds the shore between solid weight and restless motion.

The story

Late November finds the shoreline in a moment of release: water rises, opens into spray, and begins to fall. Blue fills the spaces between droplets, while the wet stone holds small glints of gold. Foam gathers in the channels between rocks, softening their sharp edges without concealing them. Beneath the rush, the rocks remain a dark, steady presence.
