The story

Late June light finds the folds of the rock and the thin sheen of water on sand. A wave opens into white lace, reaching into the narrow spaces beneath the stone. Green growth traces a damp hollow, bright against the ochre surface. As the foam loosens, fine lines in the sand emerge beneath it, only to await the next wash.
