A weathered tree rises from a rocky canyon rim, its splintered limbs set against an expansive sky. Strong side light reveals the grain of the wood and the rough stone, while distant mesas and canyon terraces recede into pale haze. The black-and-white composition balances the tree’s sculptural presence with the quiet breadth of the landscape.
The story
September light falls across the exposed wood, tracing each ridge and hollow. At the tree’s base, low shrubs gather between slabs of stone, their fine stems bright against the shadows. Beyond the rim, successive canyon walls fade toward the horizon. A small crescent moon hangs above the branches, almost lost in the open sky.
