Bare, contorted trees rise from a rocky landscape of layered reddish stone, dry grasses, and scattered green shrubs. A sunburst caught between the upper branches illuminates the rough bark, while the expansive blue sky gives each crooked limb a distinct outline. The dominant foreground trunk and low-reaching branches lend the scene a sculptural, weathered presence.
The story
September light catches in a narrow opening between the branches, gathering into a bright star. Beneath it, the bark carries deep grooves and warm amber edges. Clouds stretch across the blue above bands of stone, their softness answering the trees’ angular forms. Dry grasses occupy small pockets of earth, and green shrubs gather along the rock. For a moment, the tangled limbs seem to give the light a place to rest.
