The Folded Earth

About this piece
Closely framed sandstone walls fill the vertical composition with overlapping curves and finely etched layers. Light brings orange and coral tones to the upper surfaces, while recessed folds deepen into burgundy and violet. Without a visible horizon, the rock becomes an enveloping study of texture, rhythm, and stillness.
The story
On this September day, light rests along the sandstone folds, brightening each ridge before slipping into shadow. The eye follows a narrow line through the orange stone, then loses it among a hundred others. A darker curve rises across the foreground like the edge of a wave. Everything seems to flow, yet the stone holds still.
