About this piece

Curving sandstone walls enclose a narrow canyon, where pale shafts of sunlight descend toward a footprint-marked sandy floor. Saturated orange surfaces frame the shadowed passage, while a winding ribbon of brightness draws the eye from the foreground into its depths. The vertical composition gives the enclosed space a quiet, monumental presence.

The story

September sunlight enters through the narrow opening above, tracing the canyon’s folds in amber. Fine particles catch the light, giving its downward passage a nearly tangible form. Underfoot, overlapping sole marks press small patterns into the sand. The bright ribbon bends toward the shadows, where the stone closes around the view.
