About this piece

Sculpted canyon walls rise around an irregular opening of vivid blue sky. Sunlight illuminates their layered surfaces in gold and orange, while deep burgundy shadows give weight to the enclosing forms. The vertical composition follows the winding gap upward, balancing confinement with openness.

The story

On this September day, the sky threads a blue path between walls of stone. Light catches a projecting edge, then spreads across the fine lines of a curved surface. Each fold conceals another, drawing the eye from bright gold into purple shade. Above the enclosing walls, the narrow opening holds its uninterrupted blue.
