A Violet Intimacy

About this piece

Overlapping purple orchids fill the frame, their broad petals patterned with pale markings and fine violet veins. Bright light reveals the texture of the foremost bloom, while softer flowers recede diagonally toward the lower right against a deep green background. The close crop lends these intricate botanical forms a sculptural presence.

The story

At November’s end, violet fills this small field of vision. Light rests on the foremost orchid, tracing pale markings across its petals like a finely woven cloth. A second bloom opens below it, its edges slipping into softness. Beyond them, green dissolves into a quiet backdrop, leaving the eye to linger at each small, luminous center.
