A Canopy Of Scarlet

About this piece
Scarlet blossoms crowd the canopy, interspersed with oval green buds and finely divided leaves. Strong sunlight intensifies the red and green, while deep pockets of shade reveal the foliage’s layered depth. Brown limbs along the lower edge anchor an otherwise nearly continuous field of flowers.
The story
On this June day, the canopy offers scarcely a pause between blossoms. Sunlight catches the small leaflets, tracing their orderly rows against the loose, ruffled petals. Unopened buds stand among the flowers, green and compact. Beneath this abundance, the branches hold a quieter pattern of curves and shade.
