A broad marina stretches beneath a pale sky, its dense ranks of masts rising above small working boats and moored sailboats. Soft, hazy light subdues the palette, allowing a red canopy and blue hulls to punctuate the scene. The white sailboat at right anchors the composition, while wavering reflections soften the ordered lines of docks and rigging.

The story

The June day rests beneath a veil of pale light. Along the dock, folded sails, bundled nets, and covered decks hold the shapes of work paused. A red canopy makes a small bright shelter among the gathered masts. Below, the water loosens every straight line, turning the still harbor into a slow, wavering drawing.
