About this piece
A weathered wooden mill and red waterwheel rise above a rocky stream, framed by bare branches, evergreen foliage, and vivid orange leaves. Soft, even light reveals the grain of timber and stone, while cascading white water leads the eye from the broad foreground toward the sheltered building. The composition balances the stream’s movement with the still geometry of the mill.
The story
October draws to a close, leaving bright pockets of orange among the exposed branches. Water slips over the rock shelves and gathers in pale folds beneath the mill. The red wheel echoes the remaining leaves, a warm circle against dark timber and gray stone. Below the falls, the stream opens into ripples, carrying the woodland’s colors toward the edge of the frame.
