Viewed from beneath a pier, repeating concrete supports draw the eye toward a distant vanishing point. Saturated bands of orange and pink illuminate the horizon and wet shoreline, contrasting with the weathered structure and softly blurred water.
The story
I stood beneath the pier where its weight seemed to gather overhead, beam after beam narrowing toward the sea. Between the concrete supports, the horizon held a bright ribbon of color. I framed the repeating columns and watched the water soften their bases, turning something massive into something almost suspended. What drew me was that meeting: the rigid architecture above, the restless ocean below, and light slipping freely between them.
