Seen from the shoreline, the pier’s weathered beams and supports converge toward a sunburst at the horizon. Amber light illuminates the structure and wet sand, contrasting with the blue sea and clouds beyond.
The story
I stood beneath the pier where the sand darkened with each passing wave. Above me, the beams drew long lines toward the horizon, but my eye kept returning to the small opening beside a distant support. There, the sun broke into rays, lending the weathered structure a brief golden edge. I framed the heavy span against the moving water, holding both its weight and the openness of the sea in view.
