A fallen trunk spans the shallow shoreline, its ridged wood and pale branches set against turquoise water. Strong sunlight casts a long shadow across the submerged stones, while the level horizon provides a quiet counterpoint to the tree’s twisting form.
The story
I framed the trunk against the open water, drawn to the way its heavy curve seemed to lift above the shallows. Beneath it, small stones remained visible through the clear water, and its shadow made a second, darker arc along the bottom. There was enough blue beyond the wood to let every broken branch stand apart. I wanted the photograph to hold that contrast: the rough weight of the tree and the spaciousness of sea and sky.
