Three Canada geese occupy the lower half of a luminous field of yellow-green water. Their dark necks and layered brown plumage anchor the composition, while ripples break their reflections into wavering shapes.
The story
I framed the water without a shoreline, letting its bright reflections fill the space around the three geese. Two held their heads in profile while the middle bird faced away, giving the group a loose, unposed rhythm. Beneath them, their reflections lengthened and broke apart with the ripples. What drew me was that balance: the clear weight of the birds against a surface that would not hold a shape.
