Held Above Blue

A white heron hangs above the sea, its layered flight feathers fanning across a field of saturated blue. The lowered legs and curved neck give the airborne figure a sculptural shape, set against the quiet horizontal division of water and sky.
The story
I followed the white bird through the frame as the sea filled everything beneath it. For an instant, its wings opened into overlapping blades of light, while its long legs hung loose above the water. I wanted to hold that awkward grace—the way flight can look both effortless and unfinished. Against the blue, every feather had an edge, and the space beneath its feet became part of the picture.
