A butterfly rests in profile on a glossy leaf, its upright wings marked by pale blue bands and vivid red accents. Bright light reveals the branching veins of the foliage, while shallow focus softens the surrounding greens. Positioned left of center, the insect’s fine antennae and curled proboscis extend into an open field of color.
The story
On January 10, this small patch of green holds a moment of stillness. The butterfly’s slender legs meet the ridged surface of a leaf, its wings raised like a folded screen. Pale bands cross the dark wing veins, and red markings glow close to the body. Beyond the antennae, the foliage dissolves into light, leaving the delicate curl of the proboscis quietly distinct.
