A sunburst emerges between the foreground trunks, casting warm light across a grassy woodland. Dark, angular branches frame an expanse of blue sky, balancing the intricate textures of bark and foliage with open space.
The story
I framed the sun in the narrow opening between the trunks, where its light seemed briefly caught in the wood. Beyond it, the grass carried that same gold through the scattered trees. My eye kept returning to the branches overhead, their irregular lines tracing the blue without closing it in. I wanted the photograph to hold both sensations: the shelter of standing among trees and the spaciousness of the sky beyond them.
