Silken water slips between angular rock shelves, its cool blue-white tones contrasting with the warm gold of the sunlit stone. Wet surfaces catch the light across the foreground, revealing fine fractures and scattered leaves beside the shadowed pool.
The story
I framed the cascade between the dark pool and the broad ledges catching the sun. What held my attention was the way light separated the scene: gold on the upper stone, blue in the falling water, almost black beneath the overhangs. A few leaves rested on the wet shelves while the stream kept moving past them. I wanted the photograph to hold both that small stillness and the water’s continuous passage.
