A golden shell anchors a sweep of pale surf across dark, wet sand. Its ridged surface and pointed silhouette contrast with the softened water, while amber reflections extend its warmth into the surrounding shore.
The story
I watched the water draw a pale curve through the sand, gathering briefly around the shell before thinning away. Against the muted shore, its gold seemed unusually bright, each ridge holding a little of the surrounding warmth. I wanted to keep that contrast: the shell's intricate edges and the water's refusal to hold a shape. For a moment, the whole shoreline seemed contained in this small meeting of surface, light, and movement.
