An orange-and-black butterfly rests on a cluster of red flowers, its upright wings revealing fine veins and pale markings. The story
July light gathers along the butterfly’s antennae and the narrow edges of its wings. Slender legs find purchase among the red petals, holding the body above a bright cluster of buds. Beyond this perch, foliage dissolves into green shadow and pale circles of light. For a moment, the intricate lines of a wing offer the eye somewhere to rest.
