Where the Sun Holds

About this piece
A pier extends diagonally from the upper right toward a small roofed pavilion, its concrete supports repeating across the water. The low sun forms a starburst between the pilings and casts a broken orange reflection beneath violet clouds. Monumental foreground columns frame the luminous horizon, balancing structural weight with the openness of sea and sky.
The story
On this February evening, the sun finds a narrow opening between the pier’s supports. Its light breaks into bright fragments on the rippling water, while the concrete remains cool and shadowed. Small figures stand along the railing above, held against the glowing sky. Beneath them, the repeated columns diminish toward the pavilion, and the sea carries the last brightness beyond their reach.
