A long pier stretches over the sea as low sunlight shines between its pillars and waves wash onto golden wet sand.

Where Gold Meets Water

About this piece

A long pier recedes from the left across open water, its repeated supports framing a low sun near the horizon. Golden light threads through the pillars and spreads across rippled water and wet sand, while the curved edge of the surf softens the structure’s measured geometry. Wisps of cloud carry warm color into the blue sky, lending the broad coastal view a luminous calm.

The story

On this May day, the sun rests in a narrow opening beneath the pier, sending a broken ribbon of gold toward shore. Small waves gather the light, then loosen it across the sand. Above them, scattered figures punctuate the railing, diminished by the breadth of sea and sky. Foam advances along the beach with a soft hiss, briefly tracing a boundary that the next wave redraws.
