Petals Holding Light

About this piece
A close view of frangipani gathers white, pink-edged blossoms and slender magenta buds against softly blurred foliage. Intense light brightens the petals around their yellow centers, while the branching diagonal and sideways-facing flower carry the composition to the right. Saturated greens lend depth and stillness to the luminous floral forms.
The story
On this May day, light gathers on the open petals until their white surfaces seem almost weightless. Beside them, tightly folded pink buds hold their color in reserve. One blossom faces outward; another turns aside, revealing the long pink sweep beneath its petals. Below, a broad green leaf catches a softer gleam, anchoring this small constellation of flowers.
