Abundant magenta bougainvillea spans a narrow passage of gray steps and whitewashed walls, with a deep blue door anchoring the left side. Strong sunlight casts intricate foliage shadows across the plaster and paving, while the winding steps draw the eye beneath the flowers into a secluded architectural space.

The story

Late July light fills the passage, catching the papery bougainvillea bracts overhead. Beneath their bright canopy, the blue door stays closed and the steps turn quietly between white walls. Fallen flowers gather along the edges of the treads, carrying small patches of color into the shade. The way ahead disappears by degrees, leaving another corner just beyond sight.
