About this piece

Six small boats in blue, white, green, and yellow rest at their moorings across a sheltered expanse of water. Peach-gold reflections surround their hulls, while slender posts and a laddered platform punctuate the open surface. A palm-lined shore and distant rocky silhouettes anchor the upper edge, balancing the spacious foreground with a quiet sense of habitation.

The story

Late November takes on peach and pale blue across the bay. Each tethered boat holds its own small interval of water, its reflection loosening into fine ripples. Beyond the mooring posts, an empty ladder rises above the surface, and a distant sailboat marks the horizon. The eye travels toward the palms, then returns to the yellow hull and the light gathered beneath it.
